Switching Between Magisk
Switching between Magisk builds is as easy as a piece of cake. In this guide, we’ll show you how to move from one build to another. We’ve covered all official Magisk builds and Magisk forks.
Switch from Magisk Stable to Beta
If you want to move over to a beta build, here is how to switch from the Magisk stable to the beta build.
Steps:
- Make sure Magisk Stable is installed on your device.
- Open the Magisk app, tap on the Settings icon → Update Channel → Choose Beta.

- Wait until a new Beta APK update is live. You will get an Update option next to Magisk (and the app, if applicable).
- Tap Update → Direct Install → Reboot.

- Your phone will reboot, and you will be on the latest Beta build.
Manual Installation Option:
- Go to the Magisk Beta page and download the Beta APK.
- Install it manually, and the Magisk app will auto-restart.
- Then tap Direct Install → Reboot to complete the switch.
Magisk will automatically close and then you will get a prompt that Magisk has been updated.
Note:
- If Stable and Beta have the same version, there won’t be any pending update.
- You will only see the update option when a new Beta build is available.
Switch from Magisk Stable to canary
Switch from Magisk Stable to Canary. You can switch from either the stable or the beta version to the canary build; both will work.
- You will have to get hold of the latest Magisk Canary APK file.
- Download it from here.
- Once it is downloaded, open the file.
- It’ll prompt you “Do you want to update this app?”, click Update.
- When it shows App Installed, click Open.
- Now, you will see an Update option next to Magisk, because your phone currently has the older stable version.
- Tap Update → Direct Install (recommended) → Let’s Go, and it will update.
- Finally, tap Reboot, and your phone will boot into the latest Magisk Canary build. It should take just a few more seconds for the phone to boot.
- If there is a new app update, simply tap Update next to the Magisk app, and it will also update.
- This way, you will have both the app and Magisk binaries updated to the latest build.
Switch from Magisk Canary to Stable or Beta
- Open the Magisk app and go to Settings → Update Channel.
- Select Stable or Beta from the list.
- Wait for a new Stable/Beta update to appear.
- You cannot directly install the Stable/Beta APK on top of the Canary/Debug APK.
- Magisk does not allow direct downgrade.
- When the update appears:
- Tap Update → Direct Install [Recommended] → Let’s Go.
- Your phone will reboot to the Stable/Beta version.
- If you don’t want to wait:
- Remove all modules.
- Uninstall Magisk (Unroot) and let the phone reboot.
- Re-root your device using Magisk Stable or Beta APK with patched boot image.
Key Point:
- Direct APK install from Canary → Stable/Beta is not possible.
- Either wait for the Stable/Beta update via channel switch, or unroot and re-root with the desired build.
Switching from Magisk Build to Kitsune (Alpha/Magisk Delta)
